Demon Seven

"Satisfactory"

submission: Demon Seven
date: October 18, 2009

I have to say that the game is somewhat fun, but I feel that the glitches (such as the ones that you mentioned in your author's comments) really dampen the experience.

For starters, I wasn't sure if i was actually able to play a hard mode... the only difference i noticed was that the game's fire appeared to come up faster. I didn't clear my cache though before moving from easy to hard, so don't quote me on that as a problem-- either way, I think medium and hard might be better served if you remove certain platforms or make it harder for your dude to jump.

I also noticed that when your guy lands on a platform, he seems to hover up and down like he's not meshing with the platform. I'm not sure what's up with that, but it was a little odd.

Otherwise, the game functions and is rather fun, although I do think that you should fix the glitches. It could be a rather fun game actually with a little bit more work-- I think you're on the right track, a job well done.

Dating Sim Academy

"Plain fun in a perverted field."

submission: Dating Sim Academy
date: March 13, 2009

Bomee, you're entering uncharted waters here, and I'm impressed with what you've come out with.

Most people on this website play dating sims for the sole purpose of seeing naked girls at the end of them, no matter how depressing that sounds. You've managed to take the perverted out of the sims, giving people an experience that isn't found here to often (successfully), and you've done it well.

You don't want reviews for charity and confidence; you need them for critiques. Thus, I'll start my review of your work.

The artwork in the flash feels highly stylized, but it works (for some, not all of the characters). I was impressed how you used little details and elements (like snow falling in the hub area) to make the scene feel more life-like and moving.

The characters were a bit off. I suppose I've never been into the whole furry business, and that might be why of all the characters, Red, despite being a vampire, was the most fun of all of them. I would've preferred the ability to choose genders at the beginning of the game; it feels awkward hitting on guys haha.

Otherwise, however, this sim does nothing to stand above the others... I hate to say that. It feels as though you've put your heart and soul into it, so I feel guilty, but with such a large genre, you really need to differentiate yourself from the pack if you hope to succeed.

Good luck in the future.

Well, That Was Easy

"Masterful"

date: March 6, 2009

This is a masterpiece. I could end this review there, but I have to sing its praises first; it's been a long time since I've seen such a spark of originality on this site.

Masterpieces aren't defined by the quality of the artwork. I could find tons of flashes around here with guts in the finest detail, or humor refined to a point, but it's rare that I could call something "artsy" -- this is a compliment, believe me.

The artwork wasn't perfect. I think you're aware of that; but it worked for its purpose and the style was fluid. It fit for the story you were trying to tell, and I'm glad that you kept it simple in terms of backgrounds and textures in order to focus on the characters.

And the characters are where this flash shines. It felt... close to home. The villain has his reasons, the hero has a dark side, but then, everyone does. Violence isn't treated as bloody, heroic, and fun -- it's portrayed with a sense of realism that only a flash of this nature can truly portray, and I'm glad that you decided to do just that.

My one qualm was with the audio... the song fit, but I think I would've preferred something without lyrics. But this is like picking a speck of dust from a work of art; you can't let the smallest problem effect the big picture, and in this case, the big picture is something truly moving.

Cheers for greatness.

About Trigger Ethics

"gumOnShoe, it is always a pleasure."

date: March 5, 2009

Gum, it has been too long. A pleasure as always!
------------------

I've only listened to the first episode so far. Sorry I haven't listened to more so far, but it's all I've had time for (and will probably stick around for).

It's a good job overall. The voices are crisp and clear, and the sound effects blend in quite nicely with the rest of the sound. But lines like, "But you didn't hit his vitals on that last one" seem to be a bit un-necessary (I understand that the character seems to have a penchant for detail, but it just seems... odd). What I love about radio shows are that they leave the details up to the imagination. For the most part the program succeeds at that, but there are a few times when it seems to be a bit ridiculous. It's an odd mix.

The opening was by far the most effective part, because we can't be sure exactly how true the whole thing is -- especially after we hear the discussion between the two men regarding his religious fanaticism. It works well.

Good work, shoe! (Just an fyi -- don't expect me to stick around here as an active type. I may be checking in now and then, but I won't ever be as I was -- I will check my PMs though. Cheers!)

Pokemon Bahamut Version

"Incredible."

date: April 21, 2008

Bahamut, it's not everyday that I can say that a flash is truly extraordinary -- this is that flash.

As a comedy, this flash should be judged not only based on the graphics and sound (which were some of the best I've seen), but how much I laugh. And I laughed -- hard, the entire time through. From the fate of the DS to Professor Oak's anguish at the Pokemon selection (you can't blame him), this entire production simply reeked of quality that I'm happy to have watched.

From the opening credits to Graham being your rival, everything worked to a charm. I loved this entire flash, and I hope that it actually continues as your ending suggested it might.

Cheers.

Red vs. Grey part 1

"Great!"

date: March 6, 2008

This was a great submission with a wonderful sense of humor that suffered from one humor:

It happened too late.

At first, I really didn't like this one too much. the black backgrounds didn't stretch out far enough to cover everything, and the animations weren't that good at first.

But, then the fight scene happened.

You parodied the all-too-common rap song (... it's awful), and you used, frankly, amazing effects to get the blurs in and such. It looked great. :D

The humor in the last section along with the great animating was enough for me to give it a high score -- nice job!

The REAL NG Rules

"I'm honored. xD"

submission: The REAL NG Rules
date: March 5, 2008

Oh, it's on! (Heh.)

Unlike mine, which was just me being lazy and making a big motion tween, yours is actually really funny. :D

I liked how the text moved much, much slower so you could actually read it in yours, and I enjoyed the list. Mine was mostly the opposite. The real NG rules were all interesting -- the NG rules I used weren't. :P

It's an honor for my half-a-day-to-make flash (Flash glitched on me) to be parodied already -- thanks a bunch! Still, if you ever watch the flash I made, you'll realize that it stops in the middle...

Nice job -- look out for the amazing sequel to my flash, "The NG Rules: The Sequel". It'll be amazingly boring.

March 5, 2008

Author's Response:

Oh ppppsssshhhh, this is just one big motion tween too, lol.

I think the text might actually move at the same speed, it's just that your text was smaller so more of it was on the stage at one time -> making it look faster.

I might be able to help you with that if you want.

:D. Beef the sequel up with random NG images fading in and out in the background.

Happy Censorship Day!

"I lol'd."

date: March 5, 2008

Bahamut, I've gotta say: where you lack in flash skill, you make up for it in an excellent sense of humor. Watching Afro sensor Graham was the best thing that's ever happened -- if only it actually worked like that. :P

I enjoyed the real voices, as I usually do. They were of a crisp, high quality, and they were fun to listen to.

The plot was a total hit, unlike some of your other flashes that I've reviewed -- "trucking brick" was my favorite line, and it'll probably stick with me for some time to come. :D

Overall, this was a decidingly bigger success than the other flashes you made earlier in your time here at Newgrounds... nice work!

I still wonder how this flash became so successful. I can't see it being just my fans, Bertn and his friends making this flash so successful. I guess it was my lucky flash.

"Yay, Hitler!"

date: March 5, 2008

I'm glad to see a funny, satirical movie against the Afro Stud flashes... truly phenomenal stuff here. :D

I enjoyed the obvious joke about the "one minute to get here", Tom Fulp bringing back NG, your account being deleted... all good comedic stuff.

But best of all... no speakonia in this one. I was so happy, that I probably rated this one a few too many points higher than it deserved. :D

I'm glad to see that you've begun to bring back quality flashes (... although this is your old stuff). The jokes all hit a chord, the animation was superb, and you've never looked better.

Nice work!

"Eh..."

date: March 5, 2008

Not your best effort.

Like usual, my main criticism comes from the awful program of Speakonia... please, as you put it... "Arse" yourself to use real voices. :P

I was disappointed -- the humor didn't really work, considering (apparently) eBaum's and AOL are not only the best websites -- they're also two of the worst. Other than that, all my favorite websites were listed.

Not much animation here, if any. A few simple motion tweens in the background and such -- but who cares? Normally, your humor is what gets you through -- but today, the jokes were short, and didn't seem too witty.

I wasn't impressed.
